Shipping Corporation of India soars on inking pact to acquire two second-hand VLGCs

Shipping Corporation Of India is currently trading at Rs. 230.85, up by 9.50 points or 4.29% from its previous closing of Rs. 221.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 222.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 231.90 and Rs. 222.00 respectively. So far 312242 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 384.80 on 12-Jul-2024 and a 52 week low of Rs. 138.25 on 03-Mar-2025.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 231.90 and Rs. 220.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10771.60 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.75%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 7.84% and 28.41% respectively.

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has executed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on July 4, 2025 for the acquisition of two second-hand Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs) having a cargo carrying capacity of around 82,000 CBM. These two VLGCs are expected to be inducted into the SCI’s fleet during the current quarter of FY 2025-26.

This agreement is a part of SCI’s business expansion plans and to augment the company’s tonnage capacity.
