Bond yields traded lower on Friday amid uncertainty surrounding US President Donald Trump's trade policies, as he continues to threaten elevated tariffs across various sectors and countries. He announced that Canada will face a 35% tariff starting August 1, further fuelling uncertainties around the global tariff war which he initiated in April.

In the global market, Treasury yields were little changed on Thursday after the release of new data pointing to strength in the U.S. economy. Furthermore, oil prices fell more than 2% on Thursday, as investors weighed the potential impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on global economic growth.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point lower at 6.30% from its previous close of 6.31% on Thursday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 7 basis points higher at 6.13% from its previous close of 6.06% on Thursday.
