Indian rupee depreciated against the US dollar on Tuesday amid uncertainty over the US-India trade deal ahead of the August 1 deadline. Sentiments were weak as the government data showed that India's eight core infrastructure sectors' growth slowed down to 1.7 per cent in June 2025 from 5 per cent in the same month last year. Besides, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 1,681.23 crore on a net basis on Monday. On the global front, British pound weakened against most major currencies in the European session on Tuesday, as traders speculated that the Bank of England (BoE) is likely to cut its interest rate in this year end.

Finally, the rupee ended at 86.38 (Provisional), depreciated by 7 paise from its previous close of 86.31 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 86.41 and 86.22 respectively.
