Copper futures settle higher on Monday

Copper futures settled higher on Monday due to the impact of a major mine shutdown on global supplies. Copper prices gained further by weakness in the American currency as investors digested a barrage of comments from US central bank officials about its latest monetary policy stance.

Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0045 to settle at $4.6320 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. However, Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.17 percent at $9,972.50 a ton.
