Bond yields traded higher on Thursday as Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has expressed confidence that India's exports would grow by around 6 per cent this year compared to the corresponding period in 2024. Underscoring the country's strong performance in global trade despite challenges, he said discussions on free trade agreements (FTAs) were advancing with several countries.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields edged higher Wednesday after the Federal Reserve lowered interest rates for the first time since December. Furthermore, oil prices eased on Wednesday after data showing an increase in U.S. diesel stockpiles stoked worries about demand and the U.S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates as expected.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point higher at 6.51% from its previous close of 6.46% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading flat with its previous close of 6.27% on Wednesday.
