Let the courts decide who is guilty and who is not: BJP

BJP demanded to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that he should ask Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to withdraw his letter asking chief ministers of all states to not to arrest innocent Muslims on terror charges. BJP president Rajnath Singh told that this letter is against the spirit of the constitution and the prime minister should direct him to withdraw the letter.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde wrote to chief ministers to ensure that the police do not arrest innocent Muslim youth on the pretext of act of terrorism. He further wrote that strict action should be taken against police officers making wrongful arrests of any member of the minority community.

Rajnath Singh accused the Congress party of adopting a 'divide and rule policy'. He said, 'Let the courts decide who is guilty and who is not and the innocence is not determined on the basis of the community or religion of the accused.' He further mentioned that, the Congress had historically been responsible for creating communal instability in the country.
