Crude oil futures settle lower amid easing tensions in middle east

Crude oil futures settled lower on Thursday after Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas signed an agreement to cease fire in Gaza. The US President Donald Trump has announced that both sides have agreed on the first phase of the peace framework. The first phase includes the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, a withdrawal of Israeli troops from parts of Gaza, and permission for the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Benchmark crude oil futures for November declined $1.04 or 1.66% at $61.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for December delivery decreased $1.03 or 1.58% to settle at $65.22 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
