Bond yields traded higher on Thursday as a private report suggested that India and the United States are close to finalizing a long-awaited bilateral trade deal that could sharply lower tariffs on Indian exports to about 15-16 percent from the current average of 50 percent.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields were little changed on Wednesday as investors turned their attention to the upcoming inflation report which is set to offer much-needed insights during an economic data blackout. Furthermore, oil prices pushed higher for a second day on Wednesday, rising about 2%, buoyed by growing U.S. energy consumption and hopes of progress for a U.S. trade deal with and India.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 4 basis point higher at 6.54% from its previous close of 6.50% on Monday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 6 basis point higher at 6.16% from its previous close of 6.10% on Monday.
