Bond yields trade higher on Friday

Bond yields traded higher on Friday as Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that talks between India and the United States (US) for the proposed trade agreement are progressing, and expressed hope that both sides would work towards a fair and equitable agreement in the near future.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields moved higher on Thursday, with the 10-year Treasury yield moving back above the 4% level, as investors weighed the latest trade news and looked ahead to key inflation data. Furthermore, Oil prices surged on Thursday after the U.S. imposed sanctions on major Russian suppliers Rosneft and Lukoil over Russia’s war in Ukraine. 

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point higher at 6.54% from its previous close of 6.53% on Thursday.  

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 3 basis points higher at 6.16% from its previous close of 6.13% on Thursday.
