Asian markets ended mixed on Wednesday amid Wall Street’s fall overnight to worries about an AI bubble, dwindling rate cut hopes and ahead of the delayed US data releases. Japanese shares fell after government bond yields hit multi-decade highs amid concerns over PM Takaichi’s 25 trillion-yen spending package, while concerns over stretched AI stock valuations and anticipation of Nvidia’s earnings also weighed on Japanese markets. Hong Kong shares dipped amid deepening dispute between China and Japan over Taiwan remarks by Japanese PM Takaichi. Reports showed that China has announced the suspension of all imports of Japanese seafood and has also halted the approval process and releases of new Japanese films. Meanwhile, Chinese shares rose as the country successfully raised 4 billion euros in a bond sale that attracted record demand.
