United Spirits (USL) is the largest spirits company in India and a flagship entity of $2 billion UB group. It manufactures wide range of whisky, vodka, rum and other spirits. PDL has 160 Kilo litres per day (KLPD) spirit facility situated on 188 acres of land, about 45 kms from Nanded in Maharashtra. This comprises an active 100 KLPD plant using Molasses as feedstock and a 60 KLPD plant under commissioning which uses Grain as input.
The Company’s net profit for the quarter has registered 98.38% growth at Rs 147.99 crore whereas the same was at Rs 74.60 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010. Company’s total income has surged by 40.43% at Rs 1905.79 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal whereas the same was at Rs 1357.10 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The figures for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2011 are after giving effect to the merger of Balaji Distilleries (post transfer of the brewery division undertaking to its wholly owned subsidiary CBPL) ('Balaji'), while figures for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2010 are those of the company prior to the merger of Balaji and hence, are not comparable.
