Nifty ends flat ahead of RBI policy decision

01 Dec 2025 Evaluate

Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty -- ended Monday’s trading session on flat note with negative bias, as traders were cautious ahead of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) interest rates decision this week. RBI is likely to keep key policy interest rates unchanged in its monetary policy review this week. Index made a positive start and traded near its all-time high point earlier in the day, as traders took support with Crisil has raised its forecast for the country's Gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 7 per cent from 6.5 per cent for the current financial year (FY26), following the first-half growth of 8 per cent that exceeded expectations.

However, market came off from day’s high point and hovered around the neutral line in second half of the session, as investors took a cautious approach after India's manufacturing industry witnessed a slowdown in the growth during the month of November, as new export orders rose at the weakest pace in over a year. According to the survey report, the seasonally adjusted HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) eased to 56.6 in November from 59.2 in October, but it was comfortably above the neutral mark of 50.0 and its long-run average of 54.2. Traders took note of report that Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) has said that India's exports to its largest foreign market, the US, have suffered a sharp reversal due to aggressive tariff hikes. It said between May and October 2025, shipments fell 28.5 per cent, from $8.83 billion to $6.31 billion. Finally, market ended flat with minor losses.

Most of the sectorial indices ended in red except Auto, Metal and IT stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were Indian Energy Exchange, TVS Motor Company and Cyient. On the other hand, the top losers were Max Healthcare Institute, Page Industries and Kaynes Technology India. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 26900 - 27100 calls and 25900 - 26100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
