ONGC shines as its arm inks MoU for cooperation in oil field exploration in Venezuela

ONGC is currently trading at Rs. 277.50, up by 4.15 points or 1.52% from its previous closing of Rs. 273.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 275.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 278.00 and Rs. 274.00 respectively. So far 85,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 354.10 on 18-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.40 on 28-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 275.50 and Rs. 261.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2,37,543.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.13% and 13.65% respectively.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) - 100% subsidiary - ONGC Videsh (OVL) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Venezuelan state giant PDVSA (Petróleos de Venezuela S.A.), on October 09, 2013 in Caracas. The MoU encompasses strategic cooperation and participation in the exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources in the oil-rich Faja area of Venezuela.

Besides, the MoU will also facilitate OVL and PDVSA to explore available opportunities through joint collaboration and hence, enhance OVL's interest in Venezuela. The MoU was signed on the conclusion ceremony of 1st Indo-Venezuela Hydrocarbon Business Roundtable in Caracas held during October 7 to 9, 2013.

OVL currently has stakes in two producing projects in Venezuela, Petro-Carabobo and Petro-Indovenezolana with investments of about $341 million.
