Crude oil futures ended lower on Friday as investors weighed a looming global supply glut and a reduced war risk premium, amid emerging indications of a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire and due in part to thin trading following the Christmas Day holiday. The global oil supply next year will exceed demand by 3.84 million barrels per day, according to the Paris-based IEA’s December oil market report.
Benchmark crude oil futures for February dropped $1.05 or 1.8% at $57.30 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery fell $1.03 or 1.65% to settle at $61.21 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
