New capital should be established in the Rayalaseema: CPI

The Communist Party of India (CPI) said that after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the new capital should be established in the Rayalaseema region and said that Rayalaseema region has been betrayed since 1953 and will be the most deprived region in the event of the state division.

CPI district secretary, Eswaraiah said that the region will lose 130 TMCFT (thousand million cubic feet) water from the Krishna river. He further said, '92 TMCFT assured water from river Krishna, has to be allocated to the ongoing projects like Telugu ganga, handri Neeva, Galeru-Nagiri, PABR and Veligonda to cater to the irrigation needs of the drought-prone districts.

Eswaraiah urged the Centre to establish mineral-based industries, educational institutes and IT corridors to generate employment opportunities to the youth.
