Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal today 'formally' invited Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for an open debate at a public place where people could also participate and directly ask questions.

Arvind Kejriwal wrote to invite Sheila Dikshit for a public debate and if she wanted, they could also invite Harsh Vardhan (BJP's newly appointed chief ministerial candidate) for the debate. He suggested that such a debate should be held in public places such as Ramlila ground and not in a television studio, where citizens of Delhi could come and directly ask questions. The AAP leader said that he had asked her for an open debate on several occasions but she had refused. He said, he believed that debates should be held among the parties participating in elections, so that public could ask direct questions to their representatives.

Delhi will see a three-way contest in the assembly elections between the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the newly floated AAP. The Congress has ruled Delhi since 1998, and it is confident of winning another five-year term. The BJP is equally confident of ending the 15-year reign of Dikshit.
