Wipro surges on buzz of plans to expand its footprint in Germany

Wipro is currently trading at Rs 481.80, up by 10.50 points or 2.23% from its previous closing of Rs 471.30 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 470.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs 482.20 and Rs 467.30 respectively. So far 92649 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 519.50 on 15-Oct-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 315.30 on 31-May-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 518.00 and Rs 469.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 116154.02 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 73.51% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 13.49% and 11.06% respectively.

Wipro is reportedly planning to expand its footprint in Germany, one of the under-penetrated IT outsourcing services markets in the European region. In this regard, the company is considering acquisition in the country, while the company will also grow its presence through organic route.

The company, so far, has not acquired any entity in Germany for its IT services business even though its acquisitions of Austrian firm NewLogic and Portugal-based retail solution provider Enabler had given it small presence in Germany.

Wipro reported 1.13% fall in its net profit at Rs 1616.40 crore for the quarter as compared to Rs 1634.80 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the company has increased by 13.67% at Rs 9926.40 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 8732.30 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012.
