Centre approves financial package of Rs 921.98 crore to Maharashtra for crop damage

Due to excess monsoon rains in some parts of Maharashtra state there was crop damage for which the Centre has approved a financial package of Rs 921.98 crore to the state. Of the total amount of Rs 921.98 crore to be released Rs 822 crore comprises of crop loss.

The financial package for crop loss will be released from the National Disaster Management Funds. Vidarbha and some parts of Maharashtra witnessed heavy monsoon rains damaging cotton and other crops.

The decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar whereby Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde were also present in the meeting.
