Delhi HC stays order of shifting 2G trial to Tihar

Dismissing security threat issue and shifting of much-awaited 2G scam trial to Tihar jail complex Delhi HC has issued a stay order. The trial will be conducted at its present venue - Patiala House courts against yesterday’s communication by special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court to transfer the trial. The exercise of shifting to the Tihar court complex is illegal. There is no security threat so the court may allow us to continue the trial at Patiala House complex by allotting some other space in this court premises,' defence lawyer Majid Memon said.

The counsels of all accused contended that shifting of trial to Tihar jail complex would cause a lot inconvenience to the defence and its lawyers. The matter was heard by Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice Rajiv Shakdher.

Today early afternoon, the Supreme Court has granted bail to all corporate honchos who were lodged in Tihar jail since last seven months with other accused. This move has shown a ray of hope to Raja and Kanimozhi along with Shahid Balwa, Karim Morani, R.K. Chandolia and Siddharth Behura who are desperately awaiting bail out.
