Soybean production in India has been revised down to 122.345 lakh metric tonnes in the second estimates as compared to 129.832 lakh metric tonnes as announced in first estimate and the same was 121.854 lakh metic tonnes during Kharif 2012. The soybean yield has been affected adversely due to excess and continuous rains during Kharif Season.
The above estimate was conducted by Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) which conducted its second crop survey during October 1-7, 2013 and based on the data collected.
SOPA has revised its production estimates downward to 56.149 lakh metric tonnes from 59.475 lakh metric tonnes in Madhya Pradesh; 46.459 lakh metric tonnes from 48.565 lakh metric tonnes in Maharashtra and 10.120 lakh metric tonnes from 12.176 lakh metric tonnes in Rajasthan as compared to first estimate while there were no changes in estimates for the rest of states.
