Extending gain for second straight session, Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty ended higher with gain of over a percent on Thursday. Index made an optimistic start following positive cues from global peers and optimism over US President Donald Trump’s visit to China. index gained traction in late morning as traders took encouragement with private report stating that India and the United Arab Emirates expected to firm up two significant agreements to boost cooperation in areas of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and strategic petroleum reserves during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Gulf nation on May 15, 2026. Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal have aimed to take the country’s goods and services exports to the $1 trillion mark in the current fiscal year (FY27). Goyal said that increasing exports from $863 billion to $1 trillion requires an additional $137 billion, which translates to a 16-17% growth. In second half of the session, index continued its firm trade till the end of the session. Finally, Nifty ended below 23,700 mark.
