UPA Government has been focusing on the rights of the people: Rahul Gandhi

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday while addressing a Panchayat conference called out to the panchs and sarpanchs of Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the Congress-led UPA Government since 2004, has always been focused on the rights of the people, and further promised more rights to the local body members. Rahul Gandhi promised the Panchs, Sarpanchs in Jammu and Kashmir to give them their rights, power, so that decisions can be taken in villages.

Rahul Gandhi added that UPA Government in Delhi since 2004 is focussed on giving 'rights' to people of the nation. He stressed that the UPA implemented Right to Information (RTI), Food Security, MNREGA, and many such rights for the people. Saying that such rights cannot be run without Panchayati Raj or Sarpanchs, he assured that the Congress Government would implement the 73rd and 74th amendment and bring a positive change in the state.

Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from today, where is likely to meet members of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Jammu. He will also attend a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee at Party office in Srinagar.
