Telangana and price rise issues once again affected Parliament’s business and led to adjournment of both the houses till Friday. Slogans demanding separate state-hood by pro-Telangana MPs who got Congress MPs’ support and affected the Winter Session proceedings.

Today was the third consecutive day of ongoing winter session where both the houses were adjourned without any business. The day begin with an uproar by opposition in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the issue of price rise even as the TDP gave an adjournment motion notice on price rise while the Left, too, agreed to a discussion under rule 193 that does not entail voting.

Meanwhile, the government is likely to pass an adjournment motion on the black money issue as demanded by the Opposition.  LK Advani, senior BJP leader, met the BJP Parliamentary party to talk over their strategy to move an adjournment motion seeking explanation from government on the black money deposited in foreign banks and action being taken against indicted.

The smooth functioning of 21-sittings of Parliament’s winter session is very crucial as Bills bringing major amendments in country’s administration are to be passed. Most popular Lokpal Bill is on top priority and if government fails to pass the same during winter session, social meliorate Anna Hazare will once go on hunger strike. Other Bills like Food Security, Public Interest Disclosure & Protection to Persons Making the Disclosures Bill, the Judicial Standards & Accountability Bill are expected to be passed during this session.
