MTNL increases broadband speed to up to 1 Mbps in Mumbai

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), the state owned telecom firm which operates in Delhi and Mumbai, has increased its broadband download speed to up to 1 Mbps from 512 Kbps across all the plans in Mumbai. This new download speed is available to all new customers and existing customers can also migrate to the higher speed plan. Further, the company is planning to provide a minimum broadbrand speed of up to 2 Mbps to all the customers by the year 2015.

Meanwhile, the company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Los Alamos Technical Associates (LATA) to launch training programs on cyber security, risk and crisis management, public safety and disaster management, security operations management and industrial security.

MTNL was set up by the Government of India to upgrade the quality of telecom services, expand the telecom network, and introduce new services and to raise revenue for telecom development needs of India's key metros -- Delhi and Mumbai.
