Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has said that India’s total automobile retail sales surged 21.83% year-on-year to 25,57,234 units in June 2026 as compared with 20,98,996 units in the corresponding month last year, led by strong demand across segments.
Among segments, it said passenger vehicles (PV) emerged as the strongest-performing segment, with retail sales surging 28.63% year-on-year to 4,10,853 units in June 2026 from 3,19,412 units a year earlier. Two-wheelers sales stood at 18,28,458 units in June 2026 as compared to 15,08,378 units in June 2025, up 21.22%. Three-wheeler sales grew 16.2% to 1,20,889 units in June 2026 from 1,04,035 units a year earlier. Commercial vehicle sales also posted a healthy 16.88% growth, reaching 90,972 units during the month as compared to 77,836 units in the same month last year.
Looking ahead, FADA said dealer sentiment remains positive for July, with 51.24% of dealers expecting sales growth, 41.79% anticipating stable demand, and only 6.97% projecting a decline. The association attributed the optimistic outlook to an expected recovery in monsoon rainfall, faster Kharif sowing, stable supply chains following the West Asia ceasefire and softer crude oil prices.
