Rupee strengthens against US dollar in early trade on Friday

The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar in early trade on Friday as the American currency weakened and US Treasury bond yields declined following signs that the United States and Iran will continue peace negotiations despite recent clashes. Moreover, dollar sales by the Reserve Bank of India through state-run banks and firm domestic equity markets also supported the domestic currency. Meanwhile, Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ?532.86 crore on a net basis on Thursday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 95.31, stronger by 16 paise from its previous close of 95.47 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.35 and 95.2250 respectively.
