The production of cotton has been revised downward by 0.5 lakh bales from its previous estimate given a month ago by the Cotton Association of India (CAI). CAI had pegged the 2013-14 cotton production at 381 lakh bales in October.
The above has been however revised downward to 380.50 lakh bales in its November estimates of cotton production for 2013-14 cotton season beginning October 1.
With the monsoon finally having withdrawn, arrivals have begun in right earnest. Prices prevailing of seed cotton have come down substantially raising fear of a possible MSP operation especially in state of Andhra Pradesh.
