India's wholesale price index (WPI) inflation surged to 9.87 per cent in the month of June 2026 from 9.68 per cent in May 2026, as a fresh spike in food, non-food articles and minerals outweighed a moderation in fuel inflation.
The year on year (YoY) inflation rates for major groups, namely, Primary Articles, Fuel and Power, and Manufactured Products are 7.0 per cent, 27.41 per cent, and 7.48 per cent, respectively in June 2026, compared to 4.99 per cent, 30.33 per cent, and 7.48 per cent, respectively in May 2026.
The WPI Food Index, which includes food articles from the primary articles group and manufactured food products, recorded inflation of 6.14 per cent in June as compared with 4.49 per cent in May. The government also released provisional estimates of the Output Producer Price Index (PPI), with the all-India Output PPI for all commodities at 109.9 in June, compared with 109.6 in May.
