Government agencies procure over 153 LT of rice during ongoing Kharif marketing season

The government agencies have procured over 153 lakh tonnes (LT) of rice during the current Kharif Marketing Season, 2013-14. A total of 153,83,678 tonnes rice has been procured till November 14, 2013 during the season, as per data compiled by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

The state of Punjab made the highest procurement i.e. 116,77,420 tonnes followed by Haryana 35,32,958 tonnes and Tamil Nadu 73,570 tonnes. The state of Uttar Pradesh has also made significant procurement by procuring 43,170 tonnes of rice.
