Bharti Airtel strengthens on plan to sell African tower business for a valuation of $1.8 billion

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs 349.70, up by 4.65 points or 1.35% from its previous closing of Rs. 345.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 346.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs 352.15 and Rs 346.10 respectively. So far 292201 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 373.50 on 01-Nov-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 266.95 on 05-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 351.45 and Rs 328.65 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 139729.12 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 65.23% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.76% and 10.01% respectively.

Bharti Airtel is reportedly likely to sell African tower business for a valuation of $1.8 billion. The company is planning to sell 15,000 towers in Africa to cut down its debt, which currently stands at 65,000 crore and 70% of which is in foreign currency. The company was earlier mulling transferring Africa tower business to Bharti Infra. However, the company reportedly now has received Expression of Interest (EOI) from 4 prospective buyers, namely, Helion, ATC, IHS and Eaton.
