Indian rupee has strengthened against the US dollar on Monday amid sharp fall in global crude oil prices and weakening dollar. The Brent crude oil prices have fallen over 4% to trade near $84 per barrel after US President Donald Trump indicated resumption of talks with Iran starting Monday. Further, persistent capital inflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) kept sentiments upbeat. FIIs were the net buyers of securities worth Rs 277.48 crore on Friday’s session. Meanwhile, India’s manufacturing sector activity continued expansion but at its slowest pace in nearly five years in the month of July as growth in total sales, input purchasing and employment weakened. On the global front, the British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Monday amid rising expectations that Bank of England may not hike interest rate in 2026.
Finally, the rupee ended at 95.31 (Provisional), strengthened by 12 paise from its previous close of 95.43 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.34 and 95.11 respectively.
