Gold futures finish lower as dollar firms

04 Aug 2026 Evaluate
Gold futures finished lower on Monday, driven by a rebound in dollar, and on dulled safe haven appeal following President Trump's suspension of military action against Iran. Additionally, global inflation fears eased with the dip in crude oil rates dulling yellow metal investments. Meanwhile, investors keenly eyed on developments in US-Iran talks for clues on the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Gold futures for December delivery down by $16.50 to 0.40% to settle at $4,090.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold dipped by $1.40 or 0.03% to $4,052.93 an ounce.
