Crude oil futures end marginally lower on Wednesday

Crude oil futures ended marginally lower on Wednesday as investors assessed whether progress in Iran-Oman talks could pave the way for a U.S.-Iran peace deal to end the five-month war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. On the inventory front, a report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed US crude inventories rose by 2.479 million barrels to 407 million barrels in the week ended July 31, compared with market expectations for a 1.5 million-barrel draw.  

Benchmark crude oil futures for September delivery decreased by $0.55 or 0.73% to settle at $75.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery was up by $0.09 or 0.11% to settle at $79.45 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
