Government agencies procure over 156 LT of rice during ongoing Kharif marketing season

The government agencies have procured over 156 lakh tonnes (LT) of rice during the current Kharif Marketing Season, 2013-14. A total of 156,99,858 tonnes rice has been procured till November 20, 2013 during the season, as per data compiled by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

The state of Punjab made the highest procurement i.e. 119,16,499 tonnes followed by Haryana 35,58,022 tonnes and Tamil Nadu 75,152 tonnes. The state of Uttar Pradesh has also made significant procurement by procuring 65,519 tonnes of rice.
