Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty ended higher with gains of nearly half a percent on Tuesday amid sharp fall in crude oil prices. The index made a flat-to-negative start and continued to trade in the red for most of the session amid escalating geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, owing to fresh US sanctions on Iran. However, in the last leg of the session, the index pared all its losses and entered positive territory as traders took some support from report that India and Mauritius had discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in public service, training and capacity building, with greater emphasis on sustained institutional engagement and the exchange of expertise between the two countries. Afterwards, the Nifty extended its gains towards the end of the session and closed above the 24,300 level.
Most of the sectorial indices ended in green led by Consumer Durables, PSU Bank, and Pharma stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were Vodafone Idea, One 97 Communications and Angel One. On the other hand, the top losers were The Federal Bank, Oil India and Hindustan Zinc. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 24900 - 25100 calls and 23900 - 24100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
