Gold futures settle lower after hawkish fed comments

01 Sep 2026 Evaluate

Gold futures settled sharply lower on Monday, after Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh signaled potential interest rate hikes as early as September to fight sticky inflation. Surging crude oil rates and spiking bond yield notes also dulled bullion’s investment appeal.

Gold futures for December delivery tumbled by $48.40 or 1.06% to settle at $ 4,481.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold dipped by $0.61 or 0.01% to $4,436.77 an ounce.
