SAIL reports 8% growth in crude steel production in August 2026

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has reported 8% growth in crude steel production at 1.68 million tonnes (MT) for the month of August 2026, as compared to 1.55 MT in the corresponding period last year. Besides, the company’s total sales increased by 13% year on year at 1.87 MT, over 1.65 MT in the corresponding period of last year.

SAIL is India’s largest steel producing company. The company is among the five Maharatnas of the country’s Central Public Sector Enterprises. The company has five integrated steel plants, three special plants, and one subsidiary in different parts of the country.
