Indian rupee has softened marginally against US dollar on Friday as lingering tensions in West Asia continued to weigh on investor sentiment. Further, persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have put pressure on the rupee. FIIs were the net sellers on Thursday’s session offloading securities worth Rs 438.24 crore. Initially, rupee opened on a weaker note against the dollar, however, decline in crude oil prices over the course of the session lent support to the rupee to close 95.54. On the global front, euro has weakened against US dollar on Friday as European Central Bank raised its interest rates by 25 basis points.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.54 (Provisional), weakened by 2 paise from its previous close of 95.52 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.79 and 95.51 respectively.
