Nifty ends near day’s low

15 Sep 2026 Evaluate

Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty ended Tuesday’s trading session near day’s low point, amid concerns over rising crude oil prices, elevated global bond yields and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The index made a positive start but failed to hold the momentum and soon turned negative, amid rising inflation along with FIIs selling streak. Retail inflation, measured by the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) with the base year 2024, rose to 4.82% (Provisional) in August 2026 from 4.45% (Final) in July 2026, largely driven by higher food prices, while India's wholesale price index (WPI) inflation rose in the month of August 2026 to 9.92 per cent, as compared to 9.78 per cent in July 2026, on rising prices of food, manufactured items, and fuel and power. In the second half of the session, the index extended its losses to end over a percent lower.

Most of the sectorial indices ended in red led by Realty, Metal and PSU Bank stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were HCL Technologies, Infosys and Mphasis. On the other hand, the top losers were Solar Industries India, GE Vernova T&D India and CG Power and Industrial Solutions. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 23900 - 24100 calls and 22900 - 23100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
