Asian markets traded mostly higher in early deals on Friday, following a strong overnight rally on Wall Street. Drop in global oil prices, and falling US Treasury yield bonds boosted investor confidence. Meanwhile, market participants keenly awaited for upcoming regional central bank updates. Japan’s Nikkei advanced for the third straight session as weaker local currency yen boosted export-oriented companies. Moreover, local chip-related giants like Lasertec and Advantest rallied ahead of the Bank of Japan’s key interest rate decision.

Nikkei surged by 1,097.75 points or 1.71% to 65,234.00, Hang Seng rose by 156.71 points or 0.63% to 24,761.00, Taiwan weighted surged by 722.77 points or 1.56% to 47,010.77, KOSPI Index lifted by 177.95 points or 2.65% to 6,893.36, and Shanghai Composite soared by 40.47 points or 1.03% to 3,916.07.

On the flip side, Straits Times down by 14.68 points or 0.26% to 5,645.84, Jakarta Composite lower by 22.68 points or 0.35% to 6,439.75 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI index declined by 1.53 points or 0.09% to 1,673.21.
