Asian markets traded mostly higher in early deals on Monday, due to risk appetite in the market with the ease in systemic inflation fears for energy-importing nations, after a four-day decline in global crude oil prices. Markets rallied as US and Chinese officials struck a new AI policy cooperation deal during pre-summit talks in New York. At the same time, booming global demand for AI infrastructure sent technology and semiconductor shares soaring, driving major regional indices upward. Meanwhile, Japanese market is closed for a holiday.
Straits Times was up by 10.54 points or 0.19% to 5,666.65, Hang Seng rose by 123.22 points or 0.50% to 24,874.00, Taiwan weighted soared by 513.05 points or 1.09% to 47,693.80, KOSPI Index lifted by 103.80 points or 1.51% to 6,998.03, Shanghai Composite climbed by 20.89 points or 0.53% to 3,932.76, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI index added 5.24 points or 0.31% to 1,670.80
On the flip side, Jakarta Composite was lower by 16.99 points or 0.26% to 6,424.17.
