Snapping its four day gaining streak, Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty ended lower on Tuesday. Index made a positive start, following ease in crude oil prices, softer US bond yields and positive cues from other Asian markets. But in late morning session, Index wiped out all its gains and entered into red territory as continued foreign fund outflow dampened investor sentiments. As per exchange data, foreign institutional investors offloaded Indian equities worth Rs 576.20 crore on September 21, 2026. In second half of the session, market continued its negative trade till the end of the session, as traders avoided risky trades ahead of weekly F&O expiry and kept an eye on the latest developments in West Asia.
Most of the sectorial indices ended in red led by IT, Cement and Consumer Durables stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were RBL Bank, Swiggy and PI Industries. On the other hand, the top losers were Kaynes Technology India, Container Corporation of India and Voltas. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 23900 - 24100 calls and 22900 - 23100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
