Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty ended higher with gains of over one and half percent on Tuesday. After making a flat-to-positives start, Index extended its gains as board-based buying in almost all the sectors boosted trading sentiments. Traders took support as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in its October World Economic Outlook (WEO), has revised upward India’s economic growth projection by 60 bps to 7.0% for the FY27 and by 30 bps to 7.0% for FY28, compared with its July 2026 WEO update. In Second half of the session, the index intensified its gains and continued rising until the end of the session as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman talked about the growing debate among investors over the taxation of equity investments and the treatment of different asset classes. She said ‘LTCG, a lot of people are commenting on, both Indian and foreign investors’. This debate on STT in market and question of treating all asset classes similarly, there is a lot of debate. It is healthy to have this debate.’ Finally, Nifty ended above 22,700 mark.
Most of the sectorial indices ended in green except Pharma stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were Bandhan Bank, HCL Technologies and KPIT Technologies. On the other hand, the top losers were RBL Bank, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company and Hitachi Energy India. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 23400 - 23600 calls and 21900 - 22100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
