Bond yields traded higher on Wednesday after data showed India's wholesale price index (WPI) inflation rose significantly in the month of September 2026 to 11.39 per cent, as compared to 9.92 per cent in August 2026, due to a sharp rise in fuel and power, food and manufactured product prices.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields retreated on Tuesday, helped by a decline in Brent crude prices and a pullback in artificial intelligence stocks. Furthermore, Oil prices rose on Wednesday as renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis spurred more concerns over supply disruptions in the Middle East.

Back home, the yields on new 10-year Government Stock were trading 2 basis points higher at 7.39% from its previous close of 7.36% on Tuesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 7 basis points higher at 7.15% from its previous close of 7.08% on Tuesday.
