Copper futures settle lower on Wednesday

15 Oct 2026 Evaluate
Copper futures settled lower on Wednesday after stronger-than-expected US inflation data reinforced expectations for additional Fed rate increases, and a stronger American currency made the red metal more expensive for overseas buyers. Besides, eased supply concerns following a preliminary agreement to avert a strike at BHP’s Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine, also dampened copper prices.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.0655 to settle at $6.6605 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.60% at $14,490.50 a ton.
