India's trade imbalance with China continued to deepen, with the deficit widening 20.7 per cent year-on-year to $105.93 billion in the first nine months of this year (January-September 2026), crossing the $100 billion threshold. The increase came despite a 40.7 per cent rise in Indian exports, as Chinese exports continued to surge.

The bilateral trade between India and China reached $144.45 billion during January-September, registering a growth of 25.4 per cent. China's exports to India increased by 23.3 per cent to $125.19 billion, while India's exports to China rose by 40.7 per cent to $19.26 billion year-on-year.

China's exports are dominated by electronics, machinery and chemicals catering to India's manufacturing base, while India's exports to China are made up of a mix of primary and resource products like ores, fuels, seafood and agricultural items.
