Gold futures finish sharply higher on weaker dollar

16 Oct 2026 Evaluate

Gold futures finished sharply higher on Thursday, on account of weakness in dollar and bond yield notes. Besides, safe-haven inflows following a massive global stock market tech correction also buoyed the yellow metal rates.

Gold futures for December delivery soared by $62.20 or 1.51% to settle at $4,170.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold rose by $5.97 or 0.14% to $4,177.41 an ounce.
