Nifty ended lower with cut of over half a percent on Thursday amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Index made a gap-down start and remained under pressure until the end of the session, dragged down by broad based selling in almost all the major sectors. Besides, elevated crude oil prices weighed on investors' sentiment. Meanwhile, traders overlooked the Ministry of Commerce & Industry’s latest data showing that nine key infrastructure sectors’ output growth increased to 7.9% in September 2026 against 3.1% in the year-ago month driven by strong performance of iron ore, electricity and cement segments. Finally, Nifty ended below 22,700 mark.
Most of the sectorial indices ended in red except Pharma, PSU Banks and Cement stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were Kaynes Technology India, The Indian Hotels Company and PB Fintech. On the other hand, the top losers were KEI Industries, Swiggy and Kalyan Jewellers India. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 23900 - 24100 calls and 21900 - 22100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
