Voltas has been awarded the Ministry of Power’s 'National Energy Conservation Award 2013' in the air conditioner category, in recognition of its promotion and sale of energy-efficient appliances. The company was the only brand in the star-rated air conditioner category, consisting of both split and window ACs, to have been given this award.
Voltas was judged to have outperformed all others on two main criteria, namely - Total sale of products in various star ratings, and the energy savings generated thereby and Percentage contribution of 5-star rated products.
Presented for the first time in 1991, the award has annually recognized manufacturers who have made systematic, consistent and serious attempts to create awareness about the use of energy-efficient appliances. Since 2010, it has drawn more and more manufacturers of BEE Star-labelled appliances and equipment.
