Videocon Group’s telecom arm to bid for additional 2Mhz spectrum: Report

Videocon Telecom, part of the diversified $4 billion Videocon Group, is reportedly planning to bid for additional 2 Megahertz (Mhz) spectrum at the impending auction, for the Punjab and Madhya Pradesh- Chhattisgarh telecom circles. At present, the company has 4.4 Mhz spectrum and 5 Mhz spectrum in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh telecom circles, respectively.

Meanwhile, the company is also planning to roll out 4G LTE services. Recently, Videocon Telecom added 1.85 lakh new mobile subscribers in November, 2013. Following the addition, the company’s total subscriber count stood at 36.70 lakh.

Videocon Industries, established two decades ago, is a global conglomerate. Videocon’s businesses consist of manufacturing, marketing and distribution of consumer electronics products and oil & gas extraction.
